Applications are invited for a Senior Lecturer in Sports Journalism position to lead and develop our BA/MA Sports Journalism programmes. UCLan is one of the UK’s top journalism Schools – we’ve been teaching journalism in Preston for more than 50 years, but we are still leading the way with innovative, industry-accredited programmes.

Our BA Sports Journalism programme has gone from strength to strength since its launch more than a decade ago. Graduates work for organisations such as the BBC, Sky, national newspapers and the media departments of Premiership football clubs and other sporting organisations.

The successful applicant will have experience of working as a sports journalist at a senior level and either be teaching in higher education or have substantial industry experience at a leadership level.

The successful applicant will also teach on journalism programmes and be involved in developing industry partnerships and marketing our programmes. Additionally, the successful applicant will be engaged in research and/or income generation activities or have the potential to develop in these areas. Evidence of a research profile or the potential to develop a research profile is required.

The successful applicant will hold a first degree or have equivalent professional qualification and a higher degree in a relevant subject (or the willingness to work towards a higher degree).
