Booking now open for free webinar -The Conversation UK hosts ‘Republish the planet’ event

When: Friday, March 21
Time: 14.00-15.00 GMT
Registration: Free. Please register via Eventbrite to receive a Zoom link

Summary: The Conversation’s senior environment editor, Anna Turns, is running a short webinar on Zoom about how she produces expertly written content that’s shared under a Creative Commons licence with original strands that include climate storytelling, wild seasons and vitamin sea.

In an age of misinformation and disinformation, she’ll outline why this publication model is rigorous and evidence-based – publishing fact not opinion. She’ll cover how her team specialises in translating scientific jargon into compelling stories for a mainstream audience, and how the content she produces can be a great resource for journalism educators and professionals.

This mini-masterclass will show how your students can find credible environment experts from UK universities and beyond; source accurate quotes to add to their own pieces; republish The Conversation content for free, both online and in print. There’ll be time at the end to chat and ask questions if you’d like to find out more.

As senior environment editor for The Conversation UK, Anna works with academics to transform their research into engaging stories for a mainstream audience. Anna has worked in the media for more than two decades, from TV production to magazine journalism and radio broadcasting. As a freelance environmental journalist, she has written regularly for many national publications including The Guardian, BBC Future, New Scientist and Positive News. Her first book, Go Toxic Free: Easy and sustainable ways to reduce chemical pollution, was published in 2022. Her work focuses on solutions – progress, innovations and the changemakers pushing for a greener planet. This year, she is one of 12 journalists taking part in the European Media Leaders Climate Solutions Journalism Fellowship.
