ONS launches paid data journalism interns scheme with leading media organisations
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has launched a paid intern scheme to place six successful postgraduate journalism students with the data journalism teams at some of the UK’s leading media outlets.
Students who are on a UK postgrad journalism course, or graduated in the previous academic year from a postgrad course, can apply for a month-long internship at:
BBC News Data and Visual Journalism Unit – London
BBC Data Journalism Unit – Birmingham
Trinity Mirror data journalism team – Manchester
Telegraph data journalism team – London
Press Association data journalism team – London
ONS Digital Visual.ONS team – Newport
Students will take up their internship between July and August, and will receive £2,500 in expenses.
All candidates will need to be prepared to accept an offer at any of the media outlets and no preference can be given to location.
Details of the scheme and how to apply, plus Ts&Cs, can be found here or check out http://twitter.com/ons or https://blog.ons.gov.uk
