Online | 22 January 2027
The Association for Journalism Education (AJE) invites submissions for its Winter Conference, to be held online on 22 January 2027.
The theme of this year’s conference is:
Life After Graduation: Supporting Journalism students beyond university
As journalism educators, we devote significant attention to our students’ learning, development, and professional preparation during their studies. However, questions remain about how best to support graduates as they make the transition from higher education into employment and professional practice.
We welcome papers that explore the experiences of journalism graduates, the evolving journalism labour market, and pedagogical approaches that prepare students for life after university. Contributions may address undergraduate and postgraduate journalism education.
Topics may include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing students for graduate employment in journalism and related industries
- Employability and career readiness within journalism curricula
- Work placements, internships, and work-integrated learning
- Graduate outcomes and career trajectories
- Experiences of early-career journalists
- Mentoring and professional support after graduation
- The changing journalism labour market and its implications for journalism education
- Alumni engagement and post-graduation support initiatives
- Learning and teaching approaches that equip students for the transition to professional practice
