Last call for reduced fee for AJE members for Society of Editors conference on April 30

The Society of Editors 25th anniversary Conference 2024 will take place at the Leonardo Royal Hotel, London, St Paul’s on 30 April 2024. 

The future of AI and journalism, re-setting police and media relations and engaging new audiences in politics will be key focuses of the high-profile summit as more than 150 leading editors and news leaders come together to debate the key opportunities and challenges facing the industry. High profile speakers for the conference will include the Lady Chief Justice the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill; Jonathan Munro, Deputy CEO of BBC News and Director of Journalism for the Corporation;  Alex Crawford, Special Correspondent for Sky News, Christina Lamb, Chief Foreign Correspondent for The Sunday Times; Pippa Crerar, Political Editor at The Guardian; Rushdi Abualouf, Gaza Correspondent, BBC; Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Channel 4 News presenter, BBC Analysis Editor Ros Atkins, Maria Breslin, Editor of the Liverpool Echo and Dylan Jones, Editor of the Evening Standard.

Announcing the speakers, Dawn Alford, Executive Director of the Society of Editors said: “This year the Society will celebrate 25 years of advocating on behalf of press freedom both at home and abroad and we are delighted to bring together some of the biggest names in journalism to discuss some of the most pressing topics.

“From the opportunities and threats posed by AI to how to engage audiences in a year of global elections and the reality and responsibilities of reporting from the front line, we have no doubt that the event will provide attendees with thought-provoking and practical solutions to take back to their newsrooms.”

The event will also, once again, include an influential Editors’ Panel with leading national, regional, and broadcast editors sharing their thoughts on the media landscape, coverage of the biggest news stories and threats to journalism.

The occasion will also include a high-profile drinks reception in celebration of the Society’s work over more than two decades. 

Prices for non-members of the SOE is £198 plus VAT but AJE members have a special offer of £160 plus VAT. This includes all refreshments, lunch and a drinks reception.
